The Jeffersons

Paul Jefferson and Lisa Brokop met for the first time at a Starbucks in Nashville. A couple hundred coffees...and a few years later - they were married. In the years that followed that initial meeting in the coffee shop, they never once contemplated combining their musical talents. As a solo act you get used to carrying the load and being the person alone out in front. Then one night during a concert Lisa was giving, Paul joined her onstage for a special one-song duet.

The crowd went wild. And The Jeffersons were born.

Close Call

So it's getting close to Ivy's bedtime 2 nights ago and the two of us go into her bedroom to start getting ready for bed. I was in her closet looking for PJ's and Ivy was toddling around doing her thing. I turn around to see what she's doing and she's at the door with her hand on the doorknob. Now this is not your usual doorknob as the lock has been turned around to face the outside (it's always been that way...we've just never changed it). And you can probably guess what happens …

Country Music News - We'll Miss You

I can't believe we are saying goodbye to something that has been such a fixture in Canadian country music for over 30 years. I read a note from Jason Blaine on Facebook and found out that the final issue of Country Music News has been sent out. Larry Delaney and his wife Joanne have been the driving force behind the publication and have done all of it right from their home in Ottawa...pretty much the last of it's kind. It was all done from scratch...no computers...no internet...no online anything...all …

Sometimes the Customer is Not Always Right

I was at a Wendys restaurant the other day treating myself to a cheese burger and fries. I was placing my order when suddenly a guy comes up behind me interupting my order and says to the lady, 'my burger is not right!, there's cheese on it!' So they take his burger back to make it to his liking and the manager explains to the man that all the burgers come with cheese unless you specify otherwise. He then says, 'Well, the customer's always right!'. I couldn't believe this guy! I could tell the poor lady …

Whitney

So sad to learn of the passing of the Whitney Houston this past week. But the saddest part is that such an awesome, God given talent was taken away that really didn't have to be. And of course, the media has been going to town with it...any picture of Whitney they can find that doesn't show her in her best light ends up in the tabloids...all kinds of rumors about her last few days and what she did or didn't do. I was at the grocery store yesterday and every magazine and gossip column had her on the …
